Smithco began with a love of leather — from the first pair of sandals I bought as a teenager, to the scent of worn saddles and bridles from my horse riding days. My grandfather, who repaired my gear and later passed down his leather tools, sparked something in me. Years later, that spark became a fire. In 2019, I picked up those tools and started stitching. I haven’t stopped since. Each Smithco piece is handcrafted in Cape Town, a blend of tradition, curiosity, and quiet courage. Because some things — like stories, scars, and good leather — only get better with time.
